Mark Borthwick, Todd Cole, Takashi Homma, Ryan McGinley and Ed Templeton.
Introduction by Tilda Swinton
Mike Mills wanted his film Thumbsucker to be seen through the eyes of some of his favourite photographers—Mark Borthwick, Todd Cole, Takashi Homma, Ryan McGinley, and Ed Templeton. The resulting book gathers a mixture of loose imagery by each photographer: from on-set stills to the people and landscapes that surrounded them throughout the span of filming. We see the overarching themes of Thumbsucker- curiosity, inner conflict, and a portrait of coming-of-age in early-2000s American suburbia
